Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask Review, 1 minute clay mask!

Every time I visit an aesthetic clinic, my beauticians will never fail to scold me for my sleeping routine (I sleep 4 to 6 hours per day) and masking routine. Don't get me wrong, I love to apply masks, and I know that facial masks play a very essential role in keeping our skin hydrated.

My Masking Routine

However, there are nights where 5 minutes is all I can spare. I would choose to sleep, rather than to wait for any wash-off masks to take effect on my tired skin. At times like this, I might slap on a daily sheet mask and lie on my bed. The risk here would be me painfully trying not to fall asleep to remove the mask in time.

Ever since I am introduced to Althea Real Fresh Skin Detoxers a few months back, I start my journey in searching for all sorts of masks that can reduce my masking routine to at most 1-minute.

Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask

New: Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask

Just right, I was given a chance to try a timely new product— the Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask! Now, this wash-off mask is yet another breakthrough in Althea Executive skincare line because all it takes is just 30-60 seconds of my precious sleeping time! It is also cruelty-free.

Before I continue, I would like to say kudos to Althea. This Korea beauty brand is seriously working very hard in pleasing all her fans. Last month, they launched Althea Petal Velvet Sunaway SPF50+ PA++++. This month, they release the Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask. It is not easy to keep coming out with new and useful products, so I truly appreciate their hard work and effort.

My Past Experience with Milk Mask

Honestly speaking, I am not a fan of any milk product after I went through a disaster that causes my current sensitive skin. After being threatened to sign up for Shakura Pigmentation Beauty facial packages in 2013 (yet to reveal their evil), my skin has itched, became swollen and flared up terribly. Apart from their horrible ethics and services (e.g., I can smell cigarette on their hands), it was afterwards that I found out that their mask contains milk, in another word Casein protein— a milk protein extract that has antibacterial properties and is supposed to moisturise the skin. The downside is that if the timing is not controlled well, milk can be too active for acne skin. I have never touched a milk skincare product ever since.

Ingredients in Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask

Therefore, I am sceptical and hesitate to try when I found out that the main ingredients in Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask are milk, AHA, BHA and Kaolin. But the horrible incident happened 5 years ago, and so far Althea products have never failed me. Thus I decided to take a leap and have faith in this milk mask. Also, I love Kaolin as this ingredient detoxifies the skin by pulling out impurities from pores.

The Packaging Design

Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask comes in a 50ml pump bottle in white and blue. I like the packaging design because there is no fear of the product getting oxidised after my fingers got dirty from the application. I have some leeway to wash my hand before closing back the lid.

About Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask

Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask claims to be a gentle, refreshing and effective exfoliator that strips away dead skin cells while keeping our skin hydrated. This sounds weird to me in the beginning as my past experience reminds me that AHA and BHA tend to dry up natural moisture from our skin. They contribute to the exfoliation and peeling properties in the mask. Then, light dawn on me that the milk extract is there to counter the dryness caused by these two active ingredients.

How to Use

Before using the product, make sure to damp your skin. Simply pump approximately 4 to 6 times for sufficient product to come out of the dispenser. Next, spread the lotion-like clay evenly across your entire face and wait. Now, the fun part comes in. As the mask comes into contact with the air, you will feel a little ticklish sensation over your face while the lightweight clay bubbles up into a creamy, dense lather. This is normal for all bubble masks.

My Thoughts After First Trial

I enjoy how the mask foams up nicely. Unlike some previous bubble clay mask that I have used, the "bubbles up" process was very gentle and did not accidentally "pop" bubbles into my eyes. Also, the lathers are dense enough to not drip down on my clothes. Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask is really one good bubble mask.

Like I said, I was allergic to milk products, so I only try the mask for the shortest amount of time required. After 30 seconds, I massaged the lathers in circular motions and washed off the product with lukewarm water. Although there is no visible dead skin removed, I can feel my pores breathing, flaky skin gone and my skin complexion becomes softer and brighter. Not too sure if any blackheads are reduced. Overall, my skin feels refresh. But I feel a slight tightening on the skin coming up. Therefore, right after washing my face, I apply toner, serum and heavy moisturiser immediately to close the cleaned pores and to prevent potential itchiness and dehydration. This was my experience after the first usage.

My Thought After Subsequent Trials

I have used this mask for another one week before writing this review. I only use it at night while I am bathing, alternating between Althea Real Fresh Skin Detoxers and Althea Milk Peel Mask. As long I don't use this mask in the same routine with another AHA facial wash, the natural hydration on my skin is pretty balanced (I think). Thankfully, there is no longer any adverse reactions so I can officially include this mask in my weekly skincare routine. The milky and powdery fragrance is pretty pleasant too.

In conclusion, I find Althea Milk Peel Cream quite gentle on my sensitive skin. I especially love the convenience of having 3-in-1 properties of a cleanser, exfoliator and mask in the same product. Personally, I will bring this mask along when I am travelling. What is better than to keep my luggage light without compromising what is required in my skincare routine?!

Who Should Use

If milk products work for you, Althea Milk Peel Cream Mask is actually suitable for all skin types. Dry skin users will benefit from the milk extract, while oily skin users will appreciate the AHA and BHA ingredients. This mask will also be a lifesaver of busy people like me!

When to Use

Personally, I will recommend using the mask once or twice a week. For people who wear heavy makeup on a daily basis, this is a great deep cleansing product suitable for thrice a week usage.
