Is 美咖 MKUP Real Complexion Cream worth purchasing?

So, MKUP is all hype on Facebook since a couple of months back...
MKUP Real Complexion Cream

I watched their demonstration video to work, watched their demonstration video in the toilet, and even watched their demonstration video to bed. Every single day. It's like my Facebook feed only got their videos (that autoplay themselves, probably is my own lousy Facebook setting) besides my cute doggy videos.

Eventually, MKUP good marketing skills managed to drill their brand name and products into my brain such that my brain was filled with the desire to own a tub of MKUP Real Complexion Cream personally.
This is how crazy I was over this product

Long story short, as summarized in my Facebook posts above, I finally got my first MKUP Real Complexion Cream (50ml) in April 2017. Oh yeah, I know my review was like half a year late, but yes, I am a super procrastinator. And oh no, I did not go through all the searching, I was sick that day so I got my boyfriend to visit multiple Sasa outlets in Singapore just to get me a tub. Don't get me wrong, I am the self-claimed best girlfriend who never bullies my boyfriend ever. April was my birthday month and this was his own suggestion to buy it as a birthday gift for me~

Anyway of course, I was super excited to finally get my hands on this pink packaging that the first thing I did was to tear off the wrapper, the silicon stopper and to test out the cream.

Major thing to take note upon unpackaging

Apparently, the silicon stopper wasn't supposed to be removed as it is meant to prevent the product from oxidized! You're supposed to use a needle or something to prick the hole at the bottom of the bottle to start the flow of the cream. Hey, hello! There wasn't any mentioning of these steps until the recent demonstration videos.
The hole at the bottom

So, I guess my bottle of cream is more or less oxidized? Duh, why can't they just put the cream into a bottle that can be pumped from the top handle instead of this so-called vacuum pump design which is not really user-friendly? This current vacuum pump design works just like a toothbrush touching a toothpaste, as my finger will keep touching the opening, how hygiene is that? Pattern more than badminton! (Ranting about their gimmick apology video too. Wtf. Click here if you don't know what I am talking about.)

Comparison reviews on MKUP Real Complexion Cream

So, the fun has finally begun! Let me get started by analysing this demonstration video below, which was one of the earliest videos that I have watched through their Facebook advertisement.

To save your time, here's a quick summary of what MKUP Real Complexion Cream was advertised as (you're welcome, I know I am a kind blogger):

1. Instant Skin Whitening

The natural pink shade of the cream comes from rose plant extract. The two main ingredients in this product are tranexamic acid and hyaluronic acid, which are famous for their whitening and moisturising properties respectively. Whatever goodness that are absorbed will help in skin rejuvenation. Therefore, please treat the complexion cream as a correction tape or a magic cream. This complexion cream is a skin care product, not a makeup product, so please spam using it as a makeup base, a mask and a night cream. Simply apply MKUP Real Complexion Cream on any focused areas of your body, at any time of the day, to see an immediate result of your skin becoming one or two shades lighter than before! In a long run, you will become a pretty girl whom your mama cannot recognize!
I will say that this is true. Depending on the amount of cream I apply, my skin did become lighter in different shades. However, I don't suggest you to apply as much as the marketing video because the end result will look really unnatural and way too white. The amount that they used will look good in videos because...... it's a video. Normally, you will need a super white and bright face to look vibrant and natural looking on a screen.

Personally, I only use this cream in the day time as a makeup base. This is because despite the explanation of the microsized powder residue can be washed away easily using water, I will still clean my skin with makeup removal at the end of the day to prevent my pores from further clogging, as I have really sensitive skin and have no wish to go through another possible breakout.

2. Light Concealing

As long as you pump out a whole lot of cream and rub over your entire face in a thick layer, the uneven red patches on your skin will be evened out, the acnes and pimples on your face will look less obvious too. The result is long-lasting, waterproof and looks totally natural! Your boyfriend will be shocked at your natural beauty and you will win his heart!
Now, this is true to a certain extent. From the video, I personally don't think that the acne scenes are real acne (at least for most of the times), simply because this cream concealed acnes way better in the videos than in real life. First of all, they normally filmed those particular acne scenes a distance away from their face (rarely close up), instead of a super close-up shot. Secondly, the before look of the same girl can look super normal in one video, and then look super jialat (bad) in the next video. If the acne is really that serious, this complexion cream will have "no concealing" effect on the problematic part.

In fact, my acne and dark circles became more visible as my remaining face became brighter and lighter. It worsens especially when I didn't do an exfoliation beforehand, as there will be white edges around the acne. Since this cream doesn't have a very heavy texture (no breakouts so far), and I have super oily skin (maybe because my product is a bit oxidised too), the "light concealing" effect didn't last long on my face and become slightly cakey after a couple of hours. White patches can be seen close up at parts that are less oily, as the cream has either oxidised or melted away on the oily parts of my face.

Therefore, I will say that MKUP Real Complexion Cream only works best on people with a normal clear skin or with slight pimples and light scars. Else, you can save some money by directly purchasing a makeup base with better concealing effect. (MKUP cushion is quite good, tried their tester in Sasa)

3. Fast & Easy

This complexion cream is a "lazy girl beauty hack", one bottle is all you need! Create a non-makeup look in 30 seconds and see instant absorption results in 1 - 2 minutes!
Yes, this is true-- only for people will normal skin, you will love this product! Sadly to me, this is bullshit because my skin doesn't fit into the category. I will still need to apply another layer of cushion, concealer and finally no sebum powder. This cream only acts as the first protection layer on my skin that can be skipped if I apply a thick enough layer of moisturizer.

My thoughts on MKUP Real Complexion Cream

Overall, because MKUP Real Complexion Cream is a Taiwan beauty product, and because I am a great fan of Taiwan beauty product, so I will say that MKUP Real Complexion Cream does do what it advertised to a certain group of people. Maybe not as fabulous as it looked in all advertisement videos, but it works in general.

And yes, it is worth the hype-- only if you don't have serious dark circles, serious acne problems and super oily skin. So, for the retail price of S$34.90 per tub, I highly doubt I will purchase my THIRD tub in Singapore (purchased second tub from Taiwan at $25) unless my skin becomes better. Else, it's not an afforable hassle-free hack to me at all.

You can find MKUP products on, and Sasa. If you would like to pre-order without paying beforehand, do drop an order at any Sasa outlets in Singapore. MKUP Real Complexion Cream only arrives at Sasa on the first Monday of each month and is usually sold out within the same day (if I didn't remember wrongly, and if this cream is still that hype on the internet).
